328 CIS organisations receive authentication via eHerkenning

Where DigID takes care of the identification of citizens in the government, eHerkenning provides authentication of employees of companies. An eHerkenning identity is linked to an organisation that, after formal accreditation, can assign its own employees to services registered in the system. The Tax and Customs Administration and UWV are one of the most important organizations that uses authentication via eRecognition.

328 CIS-organisaties krijgen eHerkenning

eHerkenning is the digital means of identification made available by the government. As of this month, the 328 organisations that use the CIS services can authorise their employees for these services via eHerkenning. This means greater ease of use for the more than 10,000 users of these applications, better manageability for the participating organizations and a modern form of authentication that fits today's information security requirements.

The DigiD for employees

Where DigID takes care of the identification of citizens at the government, eHerkenning provides authentication of employees of companies on the services connected to the eHerkenning system. This gives the employee access to the relevant service in a uniform manner. The Tax and Customs Administration and UWV are one of the most important organizations that uses authentication via eRecognition. An eHerkenning identity is linked to an organisation that, after formal accreditation, can assign its own employees to services registered in the system. For example, an authorised director of an organisation can delegate the entry of a tax return to the tax authorities to an employee of the administration. The system validates the authentication of the employee with two-factor authentication. For example, the accounts are personal and linked to a number of services that the director of the organization has assigned to this employee. At any time, the driver can revoke the rights, or total access, to these services. An organization can quickly process a change of position or the consequences of a possible departure of the employee and revoke the rights of this employee.

With the switch to eHerkenning, we are taking a huge step forward in the security and reliability of the use of the CIS applications. Connecting a user is easy because most users already have an eHerkenning tool. In addition, the security when logging in is very strong. Something that is certainly necessary in today's time. In addition, the new eHerkenning implementation provides benefits for CIS. Connecting additional services becomes much easier with our implementation of eHerkenning.

eHerkenning voor alle portal applicaties van CIS

As of this month, it will be possible to log in to all CIS portal applications (CIS database, Compliancy Check, UBO Check, CIS Reference Tool and the CIS Self Service Portal) using eHerkenning. And that has the following advantages:

  • The user of these systems no longer needs to install a certificate in his browser and is therefore able to log in to his systems with any device (laptop, tablet and mobile).
  • Authentication has been improved and with the help of a second factor (via SMS to mobile) extra secure and thus personally linked to the actual user. The user's organization does not need to purchase and manage multiple certificates. This saves a lot of money on certificates and saves a lot of time in managing these certificates.
  • The own organization is also able to quickly create and change user rights to services. Or, in the event of an employee's departure, to withdraw completely. The use of eHerkenning makes all this safer and more user-friendly for the participating organisations and their employees.
